| Frequently Asked
Questions
I see some hosts offering "unlimited bandwidth". Why
don't you offer this?
Technically speaking, there is no such thing as "unlimited
bandwidth". Someone has to pay for the traffic somewhere -
and if you check the fine print of some service agreements from
companies who claim to offer unlimited bandwidth, you'll probably
find that they do charge for traffic over a certain amount. We dispense
with the fine print.
How soon will my account be set up and ready for use?
Your site can be uploaded to our servers immediately after receiving
the welcome email, which will contain the IP address for your account,
plus the password for the username chosen during signup. In fact,
we recommend that clients start uploading their site as soon as
possible after setup is complete, so that once domain transfer is
completed, the site will be available for use by your visitors.
Do I have access to update my site 24 hours a day?
Yes. Whether you're a day person or a night owl, your site is available
for you to update.
Do you offer a money back guarantee?
Yes. If for any reason during the first 30 days you are not completely
satisfied with any of our services, we will cancel your account
and refund your money.
How do I get my email?
If you're familiar with your email client's setup, use the following
information to retrieve email from your POP account:
Incoming mail (POP3) server: mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: Use your ISP's outgoing mail server.
I want to get started right away, but my domain name hasn't
transferred/isn't in the database yet. How do I do it?
You can upload your page(s) immediately after you receive the welcome
email by pointing your FTP client to the IP address you were asssigned
when you opened your account. After your domain is fully propagated
through the system, you can upload to ftp.yourdomain.com.
Is my site backed up and how often?
Yes backups are done daily on all servers, a daily incremental
back up and a monthly full backup. The full backups are placed onto
tapes and are stored for two weeks while the incremental backups
are stored onto disk and kept until the next full backup is performed.
How fast are your connections?
Our Servers are located in the Alabanza Network Operations Center
(NOC), located in Baltimore, Maryland is OnNet with GlobalCenter
(GC), Qwest Communications and GTE through three separate bandwidth-on-demand
connections which enter Baltimore in our building. GC, a Tier 1
provider whose 13,000-mile fiber optic network and Dense Wave Division
Multiplexing (DWDM) technology provide an enormous 460 gigabytes
per second (Gbps) of capacity worldwide, has an Asynchronous Transfer
Mode (ATM) fiber node located just a few floors below the NOC. Qwest
comes into Baltimore with an OC-12 line and plans to upgrade their
connection to an OC-48 in the near future. They also have an ATM
fiber node floors below the NOC. Our Qwest connection enables us
to offer additional redundancy and better routes to Europe, Latin
America and Asia. With our carriers, our router has up to 150,000
possible routes to send each packet of traffic.
Genuity, a division of GTE, is our third Tier One Internet backbone.
Genuity provides excellent network performance as a result of their
high-speed peering arrangements with other Tier One Internet backbone
providers. The GTE global network delivers customers directly onto
the Internet via a high-speed connection to its private, super-capacity
backbone, including 17,000 miles of fiber and OC192 capacity. It
is comprised of more than 800 U.S. local access points and approximately
1,500 international local access points in more than 150 countries.
Furthermore, because of these unique connections, we do not need
to link to the Internet through an OC3 or T3 Telecom circuit. Instead,
independent cables run inside our building directly from the NOC
to all three carriers points of presence. These lines can handle
the bandwidth of a T3 or an OC3 with DWDM. Plus, they handle several
times the bandwidth of an OC3.
I changed my control panel password and now I can't get in.
Passwords are case sensitive and are limited to 8 characters. If
you entered a password longer than 8 characters please try entering
the first 8 characters when logging into your control panel.
What are your server specifications?
Our servers are Pentium III machines with 512MB of RAM, running
Red Hat Linux and Apache Web Server.
Dedicated
to quality presence on the web.
